BMX winter training camp in Alicante: weather and tracks
January weather, racing tracks and how to book time for a training week.
Guide updated
Quick answer: In January, Alicante averages highs of 17 °C and lows of 6.3 °C, around 3.6 rainy days and 181 hours of sunshine in the month (AEMET, 1981-2010), so you can train outdoors almost every day. There are five BMX racing tracks in the province in our directory: Alcoy, El Campello, La Nucía, San Vicente del Raspeig and the Miguel Hernández University track in Elche. No council publishes a specific hourly rate for its BMX track: track time is requested from the council or club that runs each track, and a federation licence or insurance is usually required.
Many teams and clubs from northern Europe look for a winter training week with an outdoor track. Alicante has a mild January and several BMX racing tracks less than an hour from the airport. Here's what the data says and how booking works.
January weather
According to AEMET's climate normals for the Alicante station, January is the coolest month but still good for training: an average high of 17 °C, an average low of 6.3 °C, just 0.4 frost days and 8 clear days on average. Mornings are cold; the best riding hours are usually mid-morning to mid-afternoon. Alcoy, inland and higher up, is cooler than the coast.
