Racing, pump track or bikepark: what each one is and who it suits
- BMX racing (track): a dirt track with a start gate and banked berms, the competition discipline. Andalusia has a real network of tracks — Padul, Huétor Vega and Almuñécar in Granada; Los Barrios and Puerto Real in Cádiz; Las Lagunas de Mijas in Málaga. If your child wants to race, this is where it starts: find the nearest track and ask about the club school.
- Pump track: a closed loop of rollers and berms ridden without pedalling, by “pumping” with your body. Any bike works, it is free and no licence is needed: the ideal way in for kids starting out, adults coming back, and anyone after pumping technique.
- Bikepark / skatepark: features, dirt jumps or ramps for riders who already have the basics: the Torremolinos dirt park and Málaga’s Rubén Alcántara skatepark are the directory’s Andalusian references.
The typical Andalusian mix: pump track midweek and a racing track or skatepark at the weekend.
