BMX tracks in the Canary Islands
The 5 verified BMX venues in the Canary Islands: 3 racing tracks in Tenerife, a pump track with skatepark in La Matanza and a pump track in La Palma.
The Canary Islands currently have 5 verified venues on bmx.es, and their profile differs from the mainland: racing leads. Three of the five are BMX racing tracks, all in Tenerife — Adeje, La Laguna and San Miguel de Abona, which hosted the 2026 Spanish BMX Racing Championship — and pump tracks complete the offer: one with a skatepark in La Matanza de Acentejo and the only verified one in La Palma, in Puntagorda.
It is a small, honest directory: at the moment there is no verified venue in Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura or Lanzarote. If you know of one and can provide a source, each venue page has a form for corrections and new listings.
Racing, pump track or skatepark: what each one is and who it suits
- BMX racing (track): a dirt track with a start gate and banked berms. This is the competition discipline: you train and race with a club, on a race bike and a full-face helmet. All three Canarian tracks are in Tenerife and are club tracks: if your child wants to race, ask about the school at the nearest one.
- Pump track: a closed loop of rollers and berms ridden without pedalling, by “pumping” with your body. Any bike works, it is an open facility and no licence is needed. It is the ideal way in: in the Canaries you have El Montillo, in La Matanza, and Puntagorda, in La Palma.
- Skatepark: features and ramps for tricks and jumps; it takes more technique and pads. In the Canarian directory it appears combined with other disciplines: El Montillo adds a skatepark to its pump track and San Miguel de Abona adds one to its racing track.
In the Canary Islands the choice depends on the island: Tenerife concentrates the racing and the La Matanza pump track, and La Palma contributes its own in Puntagorda.

BMX Racing
Starting from zero
The El Montillo pump track (La Matanza de Acentejo) is the friendliest place for a first session: you ride by pumping, without racing and on any bike. Before you go, read the BMX first steps and the skatepark and track etiquette, and wear a helmet from day one — see the BMX helmets guide. If you do not have a bike yet, the first BMX guide explains what to buy without overspending.
Going with kids
In the Canary Islands a child can start at the El Montillo pump track or at a racing club school: ask in Adeje, La Laguna or San Miguel de Abona. Before buying the bike, read the BMX for kids guide: size goes by height, not age, and a certified helmet is mandatory from day one.
Racing competitively
Tenerife’s three tracks — Adeje, La Laguna and San Miguel de Abona — are club tracks: access is through the club and racing requires a federation licence. San Miguel de Abona hosted the 2026 Spanish BMX Racing Championship. Calendar, licences and categories are on the racing hub.
